Articles for Parents

The following article was found on a Christian website and talks about why it’s important for your children to receive a Christian education.  It speaks about sending your children to Christian schools, however, it is relevant when speaking about sending them to SUNDAY SCHOOL as well for they will develop these same Christian perspectives on life if they are trained in God’s Word.

I. Why Christian Education is Important for Your Kids

Education is probably the most important gift that parents can give their child; it is an asset that only gains in value as the years go by, one that is indestructible by the ravages of time. So when it comes to your child, you want to give them the best education that is available, one that will make them good Christians and respectable adults. To do this, you must ensure that your children get a Christian education, because:

  • They learn about God: While you can teach your children all about God at home, when they learn more about Christianity and the Bible at school, their belief and faith are reinforced. The lessons they learn at school remain with them for life and stand them in good stead as they face the trials and tribulations of life.
  • They are taught good Christian values: Only Christian schools are able to impart true Christian values to your children. They learn right from wrong without any ambiguity; they know what they must do in order to be true Christians. Values are best inculcated in children when they are very young, and Christian schools offer your kids a good and solid foundation in this regard.
  • They have less chances of straying on the wrong path: The children who study with your kids at Christian schools value Christianity and the teachings of the Bible. With friends who have good values, your children are not likely to stray from the straight and narrow path. They are less likely to fall prey to the standard problems of youth like alcoholism, teenage sex and drugs.
  • They excel academically: The education that your children receive at Christian schools is above par, because the system believes in imparting knowledge to children with no room for distractions of any kind. Your children focus on their lessons and are motivated to do well both in the classroom and in tests.
  • They have good teachers: Which in turn means that they have good role models. Children are impressionable and tend to pick up what they see their parents and teachers doing. While you can ensure that you remain good examples for your children to follow, only when you enroll them in Christian schools do you make sure that their teachers also have a positive influence on them. by Adrienne Carlson
