Ash Wednesday, Lent, and Holy Week

Join us for a special series of services for the Season of Lent. Each service in the series reveals in some way how Christ and His cross lead us to decide the path of God’s will in our many crossroads in life.

The Ash Wednesday Service includes the Imposition of Ashes, readings from Scripture, a children’s sermon, a sermon dialog and hymns that help us to see the direction we must take at the crossroads of confession.

Join us as we walk through the Season of Lent toward the Passion of Christ and His glorious Resurrection.  You will be inspired!  You will know why we are "Easter People"!!

The "4 Chaplains" Service

The 4 Chaplains were four United States Army chaplains who gave their lives up to save other military and civilian personnel on their ship, the SS Dorchester, which sank during WWII on February 3, 1943.  They gave up their own life jackets to others as there weren't enough jackets for everyone.  The 4 Chaplains, George L. Fox, Alexander D. Goode, Clark V. Poling and John P. Washington, linked arms, said prayers and sang hymns, as they went down with the ship that day.

American Legion posts nationwide are encouraged to commemorate the anniversary each February to mark the anniversary of the legendary acts of selflessness of the four Army chaplains who were aboard.  Members of the local American Legion post and other veterans join us and help in the service every year.
