I HOT TOPICS:
What We Allow, We Encourage
In a recent interview with Michael Josephson, founder and president of the Josephson Institute on Ethics, he commented that, “What we allow, we encourage.” His institute did a survey of over 40,000 students across the country. Over half had been bullied, and over half had bullied others at some point. This negatively impacts their character, as individuals and as a country. This should never be allowed.
Help your child or grandchild to understand how loved they are by you and especially by God and Jesus Christ, His Son.Take some time to speak with your children and grandchildren, or other children who look up to you, about how precious they are in Godâs sight, and how precious every person is, since God created us all. Bullying has become a real threat in schools across the country. It has become an even bigger threat on the internet as some have taken bullying to a whole new level of intimidation. Once it’s on the internet, it’s there for all time for all to see and read. Have conversations with the children in your life and discuss the topic of bullying, whether in school or on the internet.
Whether short or tall, young or old, we are all loved by God. The Lord wants us all to reflect His character of love and decency, honesty and integrity. Check out some of the books in the Church Library/Resource Center if you need some help with your conversations with your kids, or ask Pastor to suggest other helpful resources. Also, if you have internet, logon to Focus on the Family or Character Counts, excellent resources also: www.focusonthefamily.org www.charactercounts.org At Focus on the Family, type in bullying in the search and you will be directed to lots of articles for added help.
