PREPAREDNESS TRAINING:

Our congregation participates in several forms of Preparedness Training.  Evangelical is the Community Emergency Shelter so we strive to keep our people trained and ready for any emergency.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS TRAINING:  Our NALC Disaster Response coordinator trained many of our congregation during a two-day training session from which committees were formed for quick response to any disaster.

Active Shooter Counseling & Training. The Schoharie County Sheriff's Department representatives aided in the instruction for the Active Shooter Counseling Training.

NARCAN Training Workshop was added to the array of training sessions due to the terrible opiod crisis in our county and country.  Training is done by an expert in the field and open to the public.  Watch for future NARCAN training dates.

CPR/AED/1st AID TRAINING: Annually, we partner with our youth development organization, Fields of Grace Outreach, for training in CPR/AED and 1st AID.  Alternating years, CPR/AED Training is done and the following year training for 1st AID is done.  These classes are free and certifications and manuals are given to every participant.

THRIVENT "ACTION TEAM" PROJECTS Over the past several years Thrivent has aided us with grants that enabled us to do various projects to help others be prepared.  We've put together several hundred emergency health kits for our own shelter and given hundreds away to other individuals and organizations to help them be better ready.  Winter blankets have been sent to our missionaries in South Dakota, Wings as Eagles Ministries on Pine Ridge Reservation, who help the First Nations people with aid.

This fall our "Action Team" Project will, once again, be putting together health kits (towels, washcloths, toiletries, etc.) for the NALC's Disaster Response team which is in great need due to the many severe disasters that have plagued the United States this year. A school kits project which includes backpacks and supplies will also completed for youth impacted by disasters.
